The Burlesque Tease

For our fashion fundraiser I am organizing a burlesque night at Hampton's on Wed 28Th April. I have put together a team of four to organize and promote it. Flyer's were done mainly my Sam but I helped, I organized the venue, drinks promotions, d.j, bouncer and a team of well known burlesque dancers. We are also looking to possibly have an Ann Summers party upstairs in the V.I.P area which again I will be sorting out. Now all that is left to do is print the flyer's and posters, create a Facebook group, email all students and PROMOTE!!!!! Self promotion id very important!!!! BA Fashion are also having their fundraiser on 26Th April at The Orange Rooms which they said we could promote at also. FdA will be supporting their event and we will support theirs.

Big Bear Events

LMP Models recommended me for an assistant managers job at Big Bear Events. I went for an interview and they offered me the job. Since then I have had second thoughts as they are pressurising me to start sooner as they have some big events on soon and they are not wanting to wait five weeks for me to finish. My degree comes first and so I am unsure as to where this may lead. They said I was the best candidate by far and they really want me to work for them. They are going to ask LMP if I can work one day a week with them instead of with LMP in the lead up to my graduation so I get used to it and I am available to work full time. Big Bear work on some very big events such as X Factor and would be a great opportunity for me.

Lmp Models

For the last two months I have been doing a work placement with LMP Models. I am now staying on with them every Monday voluntary to gain a better insight into the industry.
I believe I have contributed massively to their business and due to my marketing I have secured them some very big jobs such as Sun seeker International brochures to be shot in The Mediterranean, Jwp T.V in London with clients such as Loreal and ASOS, Castle point, Gok Wan's Fashion Fix......... I have been having business meetings with the clients, helping to organize Bournemouth Fashion week, model scouting for clients and LMP, booking models for jobs, choosing models for shoots and promotional jobs, interviewing models and having a say as to whether they are up to standard, model castings.........etc.
This is a big strength of mine and I would like to set up my own agency.

London Fashion Week On/Off 2010

In February I worked for OnOff at Victoria House in London for London Fashion week.
I helped run, set up and clear down the catwalks, backstage, exhibitions and the J Maskrey party, hosting, I played a massive role in the P.R side of things by organizing all of the celebrities and guests and saying who got into the shows and when and keeping order. I networked constantly and got myself recognised and invited to parties. I noticed it's all about making yourself seem more important then you are.

Paul Hartnett (an amazing photographer)

When Paul Hartnett came to give us a lecture at uni I was determined to sort myself out some work experience with him as he is very influential in the fashion industry and is well known. After he had finished his inspiring quirky chat I rushed over to him and just asked him outright. Luckily for me fashion week was coming up and he needed an assistant. Especially a female like me as he said when he approaches some men they get a bit funny with him as he is an older gay man. So he needed me there to better my eyelashes. And it worked and he got some amazing shots. I have a really good eye for spotting things and I did help him a lot. I met him in the rain outside Somerset house and he was snapping away. We spent the day taking pictures of the best dressed outside Somerset House and Saville Row. I then went off to see the Komakino show and then we went together to see the Omar Kashora show. He was an absolute gentleman and such a character and I'm sure I will see him again. That was a great opportunity.

Paul Hartnett/Fashion shows and exhibitions

The day I went style scouting with Paul Hartnett I went to the Komakino show and the exhibitions at Freemasons hall.
The Studio_805 exhibition would have been perfect inspiration for my nICE photo shoot but was a bit too late. Live models were common throughout and icy wind music was playing as models were stood in front of fans with ribbon blowing in the wind and dressed in futuristic icy blues, whites and silvers. The fan Idea caught my attention. At that time I also saw visual merchandising in Topshop in Oxford street with fans and ribbon.
The Beekay exhabition also had live models and I loved his clothes. He was trying to sell it to me as if I was a buyer or someone important. I just played along to make myself feel more important. I think this brand is one to look out for. This is a huge inspiration for my photo shoot.
The Komakino show was great. Even though my battery on my camera died.
I was sat in the second row along with Vogue editors and celebs. I want to and will be that important one day. Again great inspiration. Very Gothic/grunge, this gave me the idea for vampire with big black capes and masks, bleached blond hair with black dip dyed tips.
I really enjoyed the Omar Kashoura show with Paul. It was in a quirky old school cellar bar that looked like it was out of the 1940's. The bar was propped with cocktails which I gladly helped myself to and so did the models as they slinked on through. All of the models stopped and posed right in front of me and I had a perfect view. Pastel shades with beige and high waisted trousers. I loved the whole bar idea because a bar is like a catwalk.

Inspirational Programs

I'm a big fan of reality T.V programs like this as they give you an insight into the industry. Also you get to keep up to date on gossip and trends. The Hills and The City are about P.R, Sex and the City is about Fashion and America's Next Top Model is about fashion and the modeling world. You'll be surprised but I have learnt some tips from them.
